Now that our full season is up and running here at Theatre Aspen, the staff are left to their own devices and the load often lessens.  But not for Colleen Finnegan, our resident house manager and member of an elite contingent of TA Jersey girls (the likes of which include Artistic Director Paige Price and myself) who works 14 hours days at both the office and down at the tent, yet dreamt up a night of youth cabaret for talented young folks in the Roaring Fork Valley. “Where are you going with that!!?” asked the passerby as I journeyed to the Hurst tent with 10 assorted Starbucks orders.  I told the passerby of this fantastic new show, and if you’re out there dear friend, I hope you make it to the show!  Blackeye (coffee with two shots of espresso) and soy lattes were favorites of the day, with the winning drink going to the six-shot Venti Americano with soy foam topper (drink of choice of Director Amanda Dehnert.)  Although the cast and crew were here until midnight working on notes and adjustments, crew were back at 8am to make adjustments to lights, sounds, etc.   Read the rest of this entry »

From sun up to sundown, the Hurst Theatre in Rio Grande Park was a whirlwind of activity.  Just last night, the Theatre Aspen technical staff closed its first show of the summer, BECKY’S NEW CAR to a packed house.  Not the sort to stop and breathe, crew immediately struck the set—removing scenery, rearranging lights on the grid, and packing away costumes to be returned to their former homes and giving themselves a clean pallatte.  Read the rest of this entry »
